Umblachery cows originated in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam districtss of Tamil Nadu.
It is also known as Jathi Madu, Mottai Madu, Molai Madu, and Therkathi Madu.
They are mainly suitable for soil plowing and are known for their strength . Umblachery cowsi is usually red or brown after birth and there are white marks on the face, limbs and tail. Their feet have clear white marks under the hocks, like socks.
The practice of de-horning is common for Umblachery bullocks.
Unlike other breeds, cows and bulls have aggressive nature.
